I planned on posting this last night, but by the time we were done with our night-time routine, I was knocked out before the baby. The days are long, but the nights are really short. That’s why it’s important for me to have go-to recipes that are quick and easy, but one that we can all enjoy.
Truth is, I never liked French Toast growing up. It was always too sweet and tasted a bit cough-syrupy. This wasn’t something I had for breakfast in the Philippines. We don’t drown things in maple syrup… So, of course, when I learned to make it, I thought 1) this is way too easy and 2) an excellent way to use up everyday ingredients at home! This recipe contains less sugar and you absolutely don’t need maple syrup if you don’t want it.

FRENCH TOAST
INGREDIENTS (this will be enough for almost a whole bread loaf)
- Bread (we prefer La Boulangerie’s Croissant Toast)
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup heavy cream or half & half
- 1-2 tbsp brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
PREPARATION
- In mixing bowl, whisk together all of your ingredients until combined.
- Heat up griddle or skillet and spray with cooking spray or add butter if that’s what you prefer. Medium to med-high heat is preferable.
- Depending on what type of bread you use and how thick it is, I dip mine for about 5 seconds on each side. Let excess drip off and place on your griddle.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or really based on your preference. I like to make sure there isn’t any liquid coming out when I press on them slightly. Also, if it’s golden brown on each side, that’s usually when I know.
